Article describes the activities of a 10-day traditional knowledge and western science camp which was held at the old Mouth of the Peel village site in September of 1996. This high school credit on-the-land course was developed by the Gwich'in Social and Cultural Institute for senior students from the communities of Aklavik, Fort McPherson and Inuvik. Elders instructed in the traditional use of plants, the oral history of the local area and bush skills. Instructors provided by the Gwich'in Renewable Resource Board, Gwich'in Interim Land Use Planning Board and the Gwich'in Land and Water Board taught about meteorology, and the physical geography, forest and aquatic ecology of the local area.
